Frequently AskedQuestions
Booking/Reservation

Booking
The booking enquiry is simply made through the contact form. The enquiry is not yet a binding booking, so you don’t have to pay anything yet.
If we are able to allocate you to a suitable group, you will receive the invitation.
If your desired seminar is already fully booked at the time of the booking enquiry, we will secure you a place on the waiting list.
Booking change
You can only rebook your booked seminar to another date if it is possible for us and we can find a replacement participant and a place in another seminar for you. Please note that we charge a processing fee for rebooking.
This can be found in our General Terms and Conditions.
Cancellation of the seminar by the organiser
We reserve the right to cancel the event due to insufficient demand or number of participants or for other important reasons for which we are not responsible (e.g. force majeure). In the event of cancellation, we will inform you immediately. Amounts already paid will be refunded in full.
We recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance. So far, however, we have never had any cancellations from our side.
Cancellation policy
If you no longer wish to attend the booked seminar, you can only cancel your booking if we are able to allocate a replacement participant from our waiting list for your booked seminar place. If we are unable to do this, a refund will unfortunately not be possible, as the seminar will then have to take place with fewer participants.
Please note that we will charge a processing fee in the event of a cancellation.
This can be found in our General Terms and Conditions.
Is it possible to combine seminars?
Yes, some seminar dates can be combined with each other. Please ask us for your individual discount if you wish to combine seminars.
After your reservation request, you will receive our reply. This can take 1-3 working days, but should usually be immediate.
We will suggest a possible date or place you in a suitable group on your preferred date.
Replacement participation
If you are unable to attend the seminar on the date you have booked, you can nominate a substitute participant from your company or circle of colleagues to attend the seminar in your place at any time.
You will not incur any additional costs for this.
Reservation

Waiting list
It is possible that the seminar date you have requested is already fully booked at the time of your booking enquiry. In this case, you will be placed on the waiting list. Should a place become available for you, we will inform you immediately. It may then be possible to offer additional dates.
If you would like to book as a group (3 participants or two people) and there are no more dates available, we will take this into account when you make your booking enquiry.
When should I book? (Registration deadline)
Please note that your place on the desired seminar is only guaranteed once the deposit has been received.

Frequently Asked Questions
All about your further training

Advantages of the Piano-Academy-Fritz
Your advantages with the Piano Academy Fritz seminars are that you will always have a profound learning experience. As a result, you can win orders and customers for which you may not have felt qualified or experienced enough before.
The best piano builders and concert technicians I have met in my 40 years at Steinway have always been those who have continued their education throughout their lives.
Certifications
You will receive a certificate from the Piano Academy Fritz for participating in the seminars.
For participation in the entire course (all three seminars) you will also receive a special certificate of completion.
Conditions for participation
For some courses, there are participation requirements that entitle/qualify you to take part. These include previous experience, as my masterclasses are designed for advanced piano makers.
For some seminars you should come from the ‘Steinway world’. I will check individually whether you can take part. This also ensures that you are not overtaxed in the seminar and that all participants can work together at a comparable level.
Evening planning + leisure activities
The evenings are at leisure. An evening meal can be organised on request.
Number of participants
The number of participants varies depending on the training programme. The maximum number of participants depends on the didactic concept of the course. Details can be found in the course description. The groups are generally very small so that we can cater to your individual needs.
Seminar contents
Detailed seminar descriptions and content can be found on the website.
Supporting programme
There is no fixed supporting programme for the seminars, but there are many opportunities to make your time in Berlin and Germany interesting. I can organise individuel excursions or arrangement.
What prior experience do I need?
Please take a look at the section with the descriptions of the seminars.
What’s the difference between empowerment seminars and audience seminars?
For us piano makers, there are not many opportunities to further our education in such a way that the quality of our own work really and sustainably benefits from it. There are some opportunities to gain inspiration and knowledge in courses and seminars, e.g. from professional organisations. However, there is a big difference between having seen something once and having practised something new intensively under professional supervision.
My seminars are empowerment seminars, in which you learn the theory, of course, but your hands (and ears) have such an intensive learning experience that you can later carry out this work on your own. When you are learning something new, it is important to have a coach/trainer at your side in the first few moments of practising. Perhaps you know this from playing the piano?
Who are the seminars suitable for?
The seminars are suitable for any piano builder who is curious, enjoys further development and sees learning as a life’s work.
Learning in a small group with like-minded colleagues always leads to a lively exchange, which enriches the seminars immensely.
If you would like to gain further professional qualifications, our seminars are the right place for you.
Will I get to know the other participants in my seminar beforehand?
Yes, you get to know the group beforehand. As I put the groups together individually, I attach great importance to creating a homogeneous group in which learning not only takes place on an equal footing, but is also fun.

Original Steinway spare parts for the seminar
The spare parts required for the seminar will be provided and are included in the seminar price. It goes without saying that these are exclusively original Steinway spare parts. The Piano Academy Fritz
On 100 square metres and on three Steinway concert grand pianos, we work and learn in small groups. You have the opportunity to work on the sound of each grand piano in a separate room, but also to exchange ideas as a group. The seminar venue is located in Berlin Charlottenburg/Germany in a lively neighbourhood with many restaurants within walking distance.
Tools
After successful registration, you will receive a list of the tools required. These are to be brought by the participant. Some tools will be provided for the damping course. For the masterclass ‘Tone-building Steinway concert grand’ it is expected that you already have your own tools. However, it is also possible to purchase high-quality tools in Germany during the seminars.
