In Berlin, Germany, I give one-week and two-week hands-on masterclasses for advanced piano technicians in small groups of 3-4, with the best possible learning for you. Currently in English only.
My seminars are proficiency seminars, so you'll not only learn new knowledge, but above all, new skills. After the seminar, you can practice these exercises on your own at home while working on Steinway grand pianos. The small groups of like-minded piano technicians create a personalized learning atmosphere where, as a trainer, I can adapt to your individual strengths and weaknesses. This will ensure you have an optimal learning experience. The exchange with colleagues is particularly valuable for us solo players.
For training, you'll have your own Steinway grand piano at your disposal, where you can work entirely on it.
The hammer heads and/or damper heads that you install during the training can be taken home after the training.
These can usually be reinstalled in another Steinway (of the same model, of course) with minor adjustments.
With my seminars, you'll improve your career prospects, have the opportunity to get better-paying jobs, expand your network, increase or maintain your competitiveness, and broaden your horizons, all while, of course, developing personally. Not to mention the fun and satisfaction that comes with being even better at something.
Maybe even feeling for the first time that you've truly mastered Steinway grand pianos.
Training has become one of my greatest passions.
I'm happy to share my experience and knowledge from 40 years in the Steinway world with you without reservation.
The Steinway damper system is technically simple, durable and reliable, but really difficult to adjust. Many technicians tell me that they don't like working on the dampers.
I think this is mainly because there is hardly any good training for it.
In this seminar you will learn everything about the Steinway damper and sostenuto system so that you are prepared for all problems during repairs, new installations and on the concert stage.
Tone-building a Steinway grand piano requires a deep understanding of its construction and its specific design features. Tuning, adjusting the action, and working on the hammer heads and hammer shanks—all the details intertwine and ultimately result in sound. In this seminar, we'll explore all the ins and outs.
We'll learn to set a goal for our work and achieve it—so that the result isn't random.
This seminar deals with the second most difficult task for us piano makers in after sales and concert service. The Steinway grand piano action revision. Usually done once a year.
All the work has to be done in a very short time, minor repairs have to be carried out, action noises and other problems have to be eliminated. The demands are high and time is always too short.
It is essential to concentrate on the essentials.
